Happy Birthday Girl Scouts.

Girl Scout week is celebrated every year on whatever week March 12th falls on. This year is the 105th year of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who will strive to make the world a better place. I myself was a girl scout and enjoyed every minute of it. Joining up with friends learning tips and tricks. I was also a girl scout leader and led young girls in group projects, crafts and friendship activities.

You may ask why March 12th?? It was on March 12th 1912 that Juliette "Daisy" Gordon assembled 18 girls from Savannah Georgia for a local girl scout meeting. Mrs. Gordon believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. The goal of the group was to bring girls out of isolated home environments and into the community for service and open air. Girl Scouts hiked, played basketball, went on camping trips, learned how to tell time by the stars and studied first aid.

Lord, help us to be good Girl Scouts, ones who the world can trust.
Help us to respect our neighbors' rights, and never be unjust.
Help us as Americans, to be worthy of the flag we bear.
Help us as real Girl Scouts, to be proud of the uniform we wear.
Help us to be clean, Dear Lord, in thought, word and deed.
Help us to follow the law that is in the Girl Scout creed.
Help us to love all people of the world, and then to serve them, too.
Help our actions to count, Dear Lord, in everything we do.
Help give us strength to carry on and do our part each day.
Make a place in this world for us and help us fill it, we pray.
Make us what we ought to be, and in Thy footsteps fall.
Help us to live for others, O great Scout Master of us all.

Girl Scout Sunday occurs on March 12th this year. It is churches that help to provide spiritual advisors to this faith based organization. Churches often help to provide a place that is safe, clean and secure for the girls to have a meeting.

Girl Scout membership now is over 3.2 million girls and adults. More than 59 million women in the United States today are Girl Scout alumnae. So if you attend a scouting sunday activity or have a small birthday party to celebrate the birthday take pride and know that it all started with 18 girls and one brave lady.
