Iron overload as the condition has also been referred to is the opposite of iron deficiency anemia. The "Iron Overload Disease or Iron Storage Disease" Iron accumulates in vital body organs such as liver, heart, pancreas and joints until the toxic level is reached. The condition also kills. Diagnosing the condition early is important and can be treated when caught early enough. Hemochromatosis is genetic so all family members should be genetically tested.
